Comments
  • If you have conducted interviews as part of your own original research you should treat them as informants and not as personal communication. Depending on what you and your informants have agreed upon you might need to take measures to avoid disclosing their identity. You can do this by using pseudonyms or leave out information that will disclose their identity.
  • Since the information from personal communication is not available to readers you only include in-text citations but do not include them in the reference list.
  • In the in-text citation you write initial and surname and a date (as specific as possible).
  • Personal communication also include non-recorded lectures, text messages, chat messages or direct messages, e-mails, letters, speeches etc.
  • Only use personal communication if another more available source is not available. If an interview is recorded and available through other sources of media like YouTube eller Instagram you cite those sources instead following the guidelines for citing these types of sources.
