- Provide citations for data sets when you have analysed publicly archived data or use your own data and present it for the first time in the current work. If you instead are citing existing data or statistics, cite the publication in which the data were published (e.g., a journal article, report, or webpage).
- As the author you include the one who has created or is responsible for the data. It may be either a person or an organisation of some sort.
- Include the year of publication for the version of data being used.
- After the title (in italics) you include identification number and version number (unless the first version) if available.
- Include a description of the material in square brackets. The description is flexible depending on the material (eg. [Dataset] or [Dataset and code book].
- Include publisher if it is different from the author.
- You may use an abbreviation for an organisation if it is established and well known. The fist time you cite the source you include the whole name and the abbreviation. After that you can use the abbreviation only.
