Organising your library

You can create folders to organise your references. 

  • Click on New Collection to create a folder. 
  • Drag and drop references to move them between folders.
  • To create a subfolder, right-click on the folder and select New Subcollection.

The main folder, My library, holds all references, including those sorted or unsorted into any folders.

Zotero automatically creates the following Collections to help you organise your library: 

  • My publications, where you can share your own publications 
  • Duplicate Items, where possible duplicates are identified
  • Unfiled Items, which contains all references not assigned to a specific collection
