Comments

  • In the reference list entry you include the date as specifically as possible. If there is a date when the page was last updated you include that. Do not include the date when the page was last reviewed since that does not automatically mean that the content was changed.
  • Write the title of the specific web page in italics. If you use several web pages from the same website you create a reference list entry for each one.
  • If the page has a named author you include the name of the website in the source element part of the reference list entry. However, if the organisation listed in the author element of the entry is the same as name of the website you do not include it again in the source element.
  • Usually you do not have to include retrieval date. You only have to include that when you have reason to believe the page will be changed or moved.
  • If you cite documents on a website which is not in fact a web page but for instance a book, article, report etc. you cite them as that rather than a web page. Since they are electronic you include DOI or URL at the end of the entry.
  • You may use well known and established abbreviations for institutions, authorities or organisations. the first time you cite them in your text you write the whole name and the abbreviation. After that you only have to use the abbreviation.
